VITO PARTNERS THE OVAL OFFICE AT THE FTI SLOTFESTIVAL
The Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) simply had to be present at the Slotfestival by Flanders Technology & Innovation (FTI) in Antwerp. The Oval Office created an impressive stand allowing VITO to display three work domains interactively to the general public.
‘The future is sustainable’, that was the concept with which VITO headed to the FTI Slotfestival in Antwerp. The Oval Office brought this concept to life in two interconnecting domes. Upon arrival, visitors were immediately challenged to think about the sustainability of their own future with a short questionnaire. During their journey through the domes they discovered the pioneering research, the inspiring insights and the practical solutions at the centre of VITO’s work on three important domains: raw materials, climate and living environment. At the end, visitors could repeat the questionnaire and were confronted with their adapted view of their own role in striving for a sustainable future.
As an experience-driven communication agency, The Oval Office developed the stand as an experience journey, allowing visitors to discover the impact of sustainable solutions on their own future. The Oval Office embraced the challenge of translating complex topics into human language. The agency managed not only the conceptual design but also the production implementation, during which sustainability was always a determining factor. To compensate the remaining ecological footprint caused by transport and production, VITO will plant trees in Madagascar, in partnership with The Oval Office.
The FTI Slotfestival was held on 23 and 24 March in the Lotto Arena and the Sportpaleis. Families could playfully discover how local technology is used for a sustainable future.
